Radiant Anjanath
Element weaknesses not confirmed yet.

Short answer
Monster Hunter Outlanders monsters at launch: Game8 lists 39 large monsters, including Radiant variants and the new Elder Dragon Ruger Aidal. There is no official weakness chart yet, so the stars here come from the same monsters in Monster Hunter: World. Thunder and ice hit the most returning monsters.
Search the Monster Hunter Outlanders monsters by name or class, or tap an element to see every monster that takes 2 or 3 stars from it, best first. New monsters (Ruger Aidal and the 18 Radiant variants) sort to the top.
Cards marked “Based on mainline games” use the same monster's weaknesses from earlier Monster Hunter titles. They usually carry over but may change, and we will replace them as in-game data is confirmed.

The game’s original flagship Elder Dragon. Interrupt its sky charge before it wipes the team, and break fresh crystals with repeated hits to stagger it.

If you can only level one element early, thunder is the safest bet: it does 2+ stars against 14 of the 20 returning monsters. Water is the most specialised, but it is the 3-star answer to Kulu-Ya-Ku, Great Girros, Anjanath, Tobi-Kadachi.
| Element | Best against (3★) | No effect on |
|---|---|---|
| Thunder | Pukei-Pukei, Jyuratodus, Tzitzi-Ya-Ku, Legiana, Nergigante, Kushala Daora | 3 monsters |
| Ice | Diablos, Odogaron, Tzitzi-Ya-Ku, Black Diablos | 2 monsters |
| Dragon | Rathian, Rathalos, Radobaan, Pink Rathian | 2 monsters |
| Fire | Great Jagras, Barroth, Paolumu | 6 monsters |
| Water | Kulu-Ya-Ku, Great Girros, Anjanath, Tobi-Kadachi | 6 monsters |
Radiant monsters are the biggest change among Monster Hunter Outlanders monsters: familiar species altered by Radiantite, the energy tied to Ruger Aidal. Game8 and BlueStacks describe tougher stats and changed moves. In an enraged state their crystals light up and a gauge appears; hitting those parts drains it until the monster topples. Game8 calls this Radiant Rage, Nerdschalk calls it a frenzy.
Weaknesses for all 18 Radiant variants are still unconfirmed, so their cards show no stars. Do not assume the base monster's chart applies.
Nobody has published a Ruger Aidal weakness yet. Pocket Gamer.biz only describes bursts of heat, not a formal element. What guides agree on is the dangerous moves, so learn those first and bring a party: BlueStacks calls it a long-term goal for strong gear and a coordinated team.
Honestly: provisional. None of the Monster Hunter Outlanders monsters on this page has an in-game measured weakness yet. We use the Monster Hunter: World chart because these monsters come from that game, and flag the 5 cards where another fan wiki disagrees. If your hunt says otherwise, trust the hunt.

Thunder. In the mainline data we use, 14 of 20 returning monsters take 2 or 3 stars from thunder, followed by ice (12). Water covers the fewest (7). Outlanders has not published its own chart, so treat this as a starting point.
No source has published Ruger Aidal's weaknesses yet. Game8, mhoutlanders.wiki and BlueStacks all leave it blank or TBD. What is known: break its freshly formed crystals with repeated hits to stagger it (Game8), and interrupt its sky charge before it wipes the party (BlueStacks, from Tokyo Game Show hands-on).
Unknown. Game8 lists several Radiant weaknesses as TBD, and we do not copy the base monster's stars across. One pre-launch guide (Nerdschalk) says an in-game tip recommends thunder for breaking a Radiant head; that is single-source, so test it.
Game8's monster list has 39 large monsters as of October 29, 2026, based on the closed betas. mhoutlanders.wiki says 40+. We track 40: 20 returning monsters, 18 Radiant variants, Ruger Aidal and Estrellian, which only two fan wikis list.
There is no official chart yet, so every site borrows from older games. mhoutlanders.wiki uses "series-typical hints", while our stars come from the Monster Hunter: World chart. They disagree on 5 monsters, flagged on those cards.
According to Game8, no: like Elder Dragons, Radiant monsters must be slain. No other source we checked mentions capture, so this is unconfirmed.
